TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Over three million tons of goods valued at $4.45 billion were shipped on transited through the Islamic Republic of Iran in the first six months in the current Iranian calendar year of 1382 (started March 21), public relations department of Iran's Customs Administration announced here Saturday.

The volume of transited goods during this period registered an increase of 46.9 and 9.6 percent in terms of weight and value respectively, said the report.

Russia with 27.7 percent, United Arab Emirates with 16.7 percent, and Turkmenistan with 13.9 percent were among the leading countries that sent their goods on transit through the Islamic Republic of Iran during the said period, said the report.
